Schrott Scores Twice, Titans Defeat Rebels 3–2 in Shootout

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — Skogen Schrott scored twice in regulation and New Jersey converted on two of three shootout attempts as the Titans defeated the Philadelphia Rebels 3–2 in a shootout Friday night at Middletown Sports Complex.

Philadelphia jumped out to an early 2–0 lead in the first period, but the Titans answered with goals in both the second and third periods before sealing the win in the shootout. The victory improved New Jersey to 16-9-1-2, while the Rebels fell to 12-14-1-5.

The Rebels opened the scoring with goals from Broxton Ingle and Justin Vlassis in the first period, giving Philadelphia momentum early. New Jersey responded in the second when Skogen Schrott scored his first of the night, cutting the deficit to 2–1. Schrott struck again in the third period to tie the game and force overtime.

Both teams traded chances in overtime, but goaltenders Ilja Nikitins and Andrei Nikolaev stood tall, sending the game to a shootout.

In the shootout, Tate Pecknold and Kristofers Krumins converted for New Jersey, while Alex Lunski scored the lone shootout goal for Philadelphia. Nikolaev stopped two of three shooters to secure the win.

Nikitins was strong in defeat, stopping 32 of 34 shots through 65 minutes of play. Nikolaev finished with 21 saves on 23 shots for the Titans.

New Jersey outshot Philadelphia 34–23, while the Rebels went 1-for-2 on the power play and the Titans finished 2-for-5.

The Rebels look to bounce back in their next outing on Saturday night against New Jersey
