The New Jersey Titans scored three second period goals en route to a 6 – 1 win over the visiting Rebels. Two of the Titans middle stanza tallies came with a minute and a half remaining in the period.
Jared Coccimiglio scored the Rebels lone goal.
New Jersey’s Kai Elkie scored his first goal of the game at 9:21 into the opening period. The Titans’ Matej Teply took a shot from the top of the far side point that was saved by Rebels netminder Jakub Krbecek but the rebound came out to Elkie – who was to the right of Krbecek – and he slammed the puck into the back of the net to make it a 1 – 0 game.
New Jersey doubled their lead just 1:42 into the second period. Teply brought the puck into the offensive zone, stopped, and reversed at the top of the near side faceoff circle and made a backhanded pass to Nikita Meshcheryakov on his right. Meshcheryakov took a wrist shot from the faceoff dot that beat Krebeck high long side for Meshcheryakov’s tenth goal of the season.
The Titans’ Ryan Friedman made it 3 – 0 with 1:13 left in the period. New Jersey’s Kyle Kimm kept the puck in the offensive zone at the far side point and passed it over to Teply on his left at the top of the point. Teply passed it down to Friedman at the faceoff dot and Friedman took a one-timer that beat Krebeck long side.
Just twenty-two seconds later New Jersey’s Dominick Rivelli made it 4 – 0.
Coccimiglio scored his seventh goal of the season just forty seconds into the third period to make it 4 – 1 but Elkie lit the lamp for the second time in the game just fifteen seconds later to make it 5 – 1. New Jersey’s Matt Henry hit the twine at the eight-minute mark of the third to close out the scoring and make it a 6 – 1 game.
