SEWELL, NJ – Philadelphia Rebels goaltender Jakub Krbecek has been named the NAHL East Division Star of the Week after a perfect week between the pipes for the Rebels.
In three contests, Krbecek stopped all 96 shots he faced on his way to three shutout victories. After recording his first career NAHL shutout on Feb. 24 at Maryland, Krbecek now has four shutouts in his last five games.
“Jakub had an impressive week. He has been a rock for us all season and managed to find a whole new level of performance,” said Rebels head coach Justin Hale.
Krbecek has a .931 save percentage, which is second best in the league. Heading into the new week, Krbecek is touting a 191 minute and 36 second shutout-streak.
Philadelphia’s stalwart has started in 18-straight games for the Rebels and has been rewarded for his strong play in the last stretch of games.
Krbecek will face another test this week with games against two of the top-five scoring teams in the league (New Jersey- 5th and Maine – 2nd) after blanking New Jersey with a 45-save shutout last Tuesday to start his perfect week.
He wrapped it up with two more shutouts against Danbury, making 24 saves and 27 saves in his last two perfect outings.
