The Rebels are pleased to announce that forward Frank Spellman has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Endicott College Gulls, who play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast. His commitment begins in the fall of 2016.
Spellman, 21, was fifth overall on the team in scoring during the regular season. He had a total of 35 points (16 goals and 19 assists) in 54 games. His goal against New Jersey on April 1st sealed the team’s regular season division championship. The former Shattuck Saint Mary’s product had a +12 +/- ratio. He had six points (1 goal and five assists) during the playoffs. The 6’0”, 206 lb Des Moines, IA native was named the NAHL’s East Division second star of the week for weekending April 3rd when he had five points in two games (one goal and four assists).
“I’m excited to go into a program like Endicott” stated Spellman. “The team made huge strides last season during its first year in the league. I would like to thank my parents, coaches, teammates and the Aston Rebels organization for everything this past season” concluded Spellman.
“We are going to miss Frankie” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “His leadership and commitment to getting better each day were exemplary. Whatever Frankie wishes to do when he is finished playing hockey he will be a success. As an organization, we wish him nothing but the best” stated Coombs.
Endicott College is coached by R.J. Tolan. This past season the Gulls had an overall 16-9-2 record. The team advanced to the ECAC Northeast Championship game.
