SEWELL, NJ- The Philadelphia Rebels (21-23-1-1, 44 pts) opened March with a 4-0 shutout win over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (2-40-5-2, 11 pts) on Friday night.
With just seconds to go in the second frame, Greg Spitznagel scored his first of two in the game to put the Rebels up by two heading into the third period.
Just moments before, Connor Sedlak broke a scoreless tie on a breakaway opportunity to put the Rebels up and they never relinquished the lead the rest of the way. It was Sedlak’s team-leading 17th goal of the season.
Carter Casper recorded his fourth goal of the season to give the Rebels a 3-0 lead early in the third before Spitznagel’s second of the night iced the game. Spitznagel ended a nine-game point drought on Tuesday and now has four points in his last two games after assisting on Sedlak’s goal on Fridayl
Jakub Krbecek recorded his third shutout in his last four games, making 24 saves in the win. Krbecek has a 131:36 shutout streak heading into Saturday’s contest.
Philadelphia will go for the weekend sweep tomorrow night against Danbury again at 7:30 p.m. at Hollydell. Admission is free to all fans and the game can be seen live on Hockey TV.
