Titans Blank Rebels 3-0

Nov 13, 2015

The Rebels entered this weekend’s important series three points behind East Division rival New Jersey Titans. While it was still too early in the season to put emphasis on this weekend, both teams knew the meaning of it.

New Jersey’s Victor Ostling took a feed from Bruno Birzitis and beat Rebels goalie Darion Hanson at the fifty two second mark of the third period to score the game winner.

The first two periods were up and down. Fortunately for the Rebels, the penalty kill units did a great killing off eight Titan’s power plays and Hanson made some key saves to keep the score knotted at zero. When the two teams were at even strength the Rebels were clearly the better team but New Jersey goalie Jack Berry made some 10 bell saves and controlled his rebounds to keep the Titans in the game.

After Ostling put the Titans on the board, almost a minute and thirty seconds later Tony DeVito was set up by Michael Gelatt and Brad Becker to put the visitors up by two. Andrew Durham scored an empty net goal at 18:31 of the final period.

Hanson played very well making 26 saves on 28 shots. It was the Rebels first home lost of the season.

The teams are back at it tonight at 7pm on Veterans Appreciation Weekend. Immediately following the game, the Rebels will be auctioning off their special jerseys with all proceeds going to the Travis Manion Foundation. Click here for the box score.
