SEWELL, N.J. — The New Jersey Titans scored twice in the third period to pull away for a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Rebels on Friday night at Hollydell Ice Arena.
Arseniy Vorobyov opened the scoring for New Jersey, and the Titans never trailed. Philadelphia answered in the first period on a goal by Dylan Moran, but the Rebels were unable to build momentum despite outshooting the Titans 11-8 in the opening frame.
New Jersey regained control in the second period and extended its lead in the third behind goals from Ty Creech Skogen Schrott, who also added an assist. Arseniy Zharikov recorded three assists in the win, while Creech contributed a goal and an assist as the Titans improved to 22-17-2-2 on the season.
Tyler Rounds turned aside 24 of 25 shots for New Jersey, posting a .960 save percentage and limiting second-chance opportunities throughout the night. Ilja Nikitins made 24 saves on 27 shots for Philadelphia, which fell to 17-20-2-6.
The Rebels finished 0-for-3 on the power play, and New Jersey converted twice on four power-play opportunities while outshooting Philadelphia 28-25 overall.
The two teams conclude their home-and-home series Saturday in Middletown.
