Weekend Preview: 1/17 & 1/18 – Rebels home for first time in 2025 to faceoff against Tomahawks

The Rebels will be home for the first time in 2025 as they host the Johnstown Tomahawks this Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18 at the Hollydell Ice Arena with both games starting at 7:30PM. Friday is $5 Friday with all tickets just $5 each. Saturday is BOGO night – buy one ticket at full value of $10 and receive another ticket for FREE.

Tomahawks vs. Rebels Overview
This will be the first time these teams have met since the second week of the season when the Rebels swept a pair of home games against the Tomahawks by the combined score of 8 to 4. This will be the second of three meetings between the teams. The final meeting will be held February 14 and 15 at the War Memorial in Johnstown.

The Rebels won the first game 3 – 1 and the second game 5 – 3.  During that series the Tomahawks had four different players light the lamp: Tate Pecknold, Adam Ondris, Ryan Flaherty and Nick Jarmain. Johnstown has yet to convert on their eight chances on the man advantage. Tomahawks goaltenders 3.64 goals against average and .912 save percentage.

Charles Panchisin (1 goal and 3 assists) and Ruslan Jamaldinov (2 goals and 2 assists) each have four points against the Tomahawks while Jamaldinov has the most goals (2). The Rebels are 2 for 8 (25%) on the man advantage. Rebels’ goaltenders have a 2.00 goals against average and .948 save percentage.

Tomahawks Overview
Johnstown is currently in seventh place in the East Division with a 16-17-2-0 record for 34 points (22nd in the league). They are coming off of being swept at home against the Maine Nordiques last weekend. They lost by the scores of 1 – 0 and 4 – 1. They have lost four out of their last five games and seven of their last ten. They possess an 8-11-0-0 home record and 8-6-2-0 away record.

The Tomahawks have scored 107 goals (18th in the league), and they have allowed 125 (28th in the league). They have converted on 17.36% of the chances on the man advantage (17th in the league), and their penalty kill is at 79.80% (26th in the league). They have scored 21 power play goals (25th in the league) and four shorthanded goals (18th in the league). Their powerplay at home is 16.31% and penalty kill is 84.91%. The Tomahawks powerplay on the road is 18.64% while their penalty kill is 73.91%.

Ondris leads the Tomahawks with 28 total points (17 goals and 11 assists) and goals (17). Cullen Emry has the most game winning goals with four. Dylan Shane has a team best +13. Ryan Flaherty leads Johnstown with 48 penalty minutes.

Rebels Overview
The Rebels are currently in last place in the East Division with a 12-19-2-1 record for 27 points. They are coming off being swept on the road to the Rochester Jr. Americans last weekend by the scores of 3 – 2 and 5 – 2. They have lost four in a row and four out of their last five games, and they have lost seven of their past ten games. The Rebels have a 10-4-2-1 home record and a 2-15-0-0 away record (which includes the league showcase).

Philadelphia has scored 98 goals (24th in the league), and they have allowed 119 (22nd in the league). They have converted on 12.50% of the chances on the man advantage (33rd in the league), and their penalty kill is at 83.09% (16th in the league). They have scored 17 power play goals (32nd in the league) and two shorthanded goals (26th in the league). Their powerplay at home is 21.54% and penalty kill is 87.67%. The Rebels powerplay on the road is 4.23% while their penalty kill is 77.78%.

Panchisin leads the team with 31 total points (10 goals and 21 assists) while Caesar Björk has a team best 13 goals. Jamaldinov has a team high three game winning goals.  Zach Spagnuolo and Panchisin have a team best +9. Brock Jones has a team high 69 penalty minutes.
