Weekend Preview: 1/3 & 1/4 – Rebels begin second half on the road for two-game series against Nordiques

The Rebels will travel to Lewiston, ME to play a two-game series against the Maine Nordiques this Friday, January 3 at 7:30PM and Saturday, January 4 at 7:00PM at The Colisee. This will be the second of three meetings between the teams this season, and it will be the first of two series against each other within three weeks (the next series is scheduled for January 24 and 25 in Maine).  

Nordiques vs. Rebels Overview
The teams met back in early December with the Rebels sweeping the Nordiques at home by a combined score of 6 to 3. Laurent Trepanier (1 goal and 1 assist) and Aiden Farro (2 assists) each have two points against the Rebels to lead Maine in points while Trepanier, Damon Meyers and Usko Laaksonen each scored a goal. Maine has yet to convert on any of their eight changes on the powerplay. Nordiques goaltenders have a combined 3.09 goals against average and .904 save percentage.

Charles Panchisin (2 goals and 1 assist) and Brock Jones (1 goal and 2 assists) each have three points to lead the Rebels against Maine while Panchisin has the most goals (2). The Rebels are 1 for 8 (13%) on the man advantage. Owen Crudale has played in both games stopping 87 of 90 shots (.966 save percentage) and posting a 1.50 goals against average with no shutouts.

Nordiques Overview
The Nordiques are currently in fourth place in the East Division with a 17-13-2-1 record for 37 points. They are coming off of a home split against the Rochester Jr. Americans back on December 20 and 21. The last game of that series Carter Richardson stopped all 38 shots he faced to lead the Nordiques to a 4 – 0 win. They have won three of their last five games and three of their past ten contests. They possess a 6-5-0-0 home record and 11-8-2-1 away record.

The Nordiques have scored 103 goals (12th in the league), and they have allowed 84 (12th in the league). They have converted on 18.45% of the chances on the man advantage (13th in the league), and their penalty kill is at 84.62% (11th in the league). They have scored 31 power play goals (3rd in the league) and four shorthanded goals (14th in the league). Their powerplay at home is 19.35% and penalty kill is 85.71%. The Nordiques powerplay on the road is 17.92% while their penalty kill is 84%.

Zion Green leads the Nordiques with 36 total points (7 goals and 29 assists) while Trepanier leads the team in goals (21). Trepanier also has four game winning goals to lead Maine as well as a team best +16 while Ethan Wongus leads Maine with 90 penalty minutes.

Maine’s goaltenders have a combined 2.55 goals against average and .913 save percentage with three shutouts. Carter Richardson has a team high eleven wins and .914 save percentage and 2.54 goals against average with the two shutouts.

Rebels Overview
The Rebels are currently in ninth place in the East Division with a 12-15-2-1 record for 27 points. They are coming off a home split against the Maryland Black Bears on December 20 and 21. The last game they played was a 1 – 0 shootout win with Pancishin scoring the game winner while Crudale earned his first junior shutout stopping all 38 shots. They have won two of their last five games and four out of their last ten games. The Rebels have a 10-4-2-1 home record and a 2-11-0-0 away record (which includes the league showcase).

Philadelphia has scored 92 goals (23rd in the league), and they have allowed 103 (20th in the league). They have converted on 13.22% of the chances on the man advantage (32nd in the league), and their penalty kill is at 82.50% (19th in the league). They have scored 16 power play goals (32nd in the league) and two shorthanded goals (25th in the league). Their powerplay at home is 21.54% and penalty kill is 87.67%. The Rebels powerplay on the road is 3.57% while their penalty kill is 74.47%.

Panchisin leads the team with 28 total points (10 goals and 18 assists) while Ruslan Jamaldinov, Caesar Björk and Panchisin each have a team best ten goals. Jamaldinov also has a team high three game winning goals.  Zach Spagnuolo has a team best +9. Jones has a team high 59 penalty minutes.
