Weekend Preview: 10/20 & 10/21 – Rebels host first place Northeast Generals for series

The Rebels will host the first place Northeast Generals this Friday and Saturday night at the Hollydell Ice Arena with puck drops slated for 7:35PM for both games.

This will be the Rebels’ first home games since September 21 when they played the Johnstown Tomahawks. This will be the beginning of a four game homestand for Philadelphia. Next weekend the Rebels will host the Maine Nordiques for a pair of games.

There will be a meet & greet immediately following Saturday’s game featuring Tyler Stern, Brock Jones, Greg Spitznagel, Bryce Strand, and Ryan Vaites. The meet & greet will be held in the rink’s lobby.

Generals vs. Rebels Overview
Northeast took five of the eight games played last season winning by a combined score of 28 – 19 with two shutouts. Two of the Rebels victories were on the road.

Generals Overview
Northeast is currently in first place in the East Division with a 10-3-0 record for 20 points in thirteen games played. Although the Generals and Maryland Black Bears are tied for first with 20 points, Northeast has a game in hand.

The Generals have won eight out of their last ten games, including last weekend’s home sweep over the Danbury Jr. Hat Trick. Northeast has scored 46 goals (6th in the league) while they have allowed 42 (22nd the league).

Veteran forward Sixten Jennersjo leads the Generals (and the league) with 22 total points (1 goal and 21 assists). Ryan Remick and Frank D’Ancona each have the most goals with eight. Tyler Hamm has scored the most game winning goals for the Generals this season with three. Matthew DeSpirt has a team best +9. Jack Demoura has the most penalty minutes on Northeast (and the league) with 76.

Goaltenders Toby Hopp and Marks Slavinskis-Repe have a combined 2.75 goals against average and .908 save percentage with no shutouts.

Rebels Overview
The Rebels are in eighth place in the East Division with a 5-7-0 record for ten points. They have won three of their last ten games, and they are coming off being swept on the road last weekend to the New Hampshire Mountain Kings. Philadelphia has scored 36 goals (15th in the league), and they have allowed 39 (18th in the league).

Four players (Luke deVries, Max Marquette, Klaus Jogi and Kris Samitis) each have nine points to lead the team in total points. Otto Polakovs and Samitis have six goals to lead the team in goals scored. Four different players have a game winning goal. Marquette has a team best +8. Greg Spitznagel has the most penalty minutes with 53.
