Weekend preview: 11/10 – 11/12. Titans come to Class of ’23 Arena

The New Jersey Titans and Philadelphia Rebels will play a pair of games this weekend at the Class of 1923 Arena at the University of Pennsylvania with Friday night’s faceoff set for 7:10pm while Sunday’s game starts at 6:20pm. The two teams then will play a mid-week game on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00pm at the old barn.

The first time these two teams met back on October 8 the game was suspended due to heavy fog at the Class of ’23 rink. New Jersey had just scored a goal to make it 1 – 0 but the players couldn’t see the puck and the game was called. A make-up date has not been announced.

New Jersey Titans Overview
The Titans enter this weekend in fourth place in the East Division with a 9-5-1-1 record for 20 points, eight behind division leader Northeast Generals, although the Titans have played seven games less than Northeast.  The Titans have a 2 – 3 record during their past five games. They are coming off of a 2 – 1 road win over the Johnstown Tomahawks last Sunday. The Titans took two of three games against Johnstown last weekend.

Hunter Alden leads the Titans in points with 19 (5 goals and 14 assists). He is followed by Tate Singleton’s 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists) and Nick Boyagian’s 11 points (6 goals and 5 assists). Boyagian leads New Jersey in goals scored with six. Tyler Antonucci leads the team with two game winning goals while Singleton leads the team in penalty minutes with 39. Defenseman Spencer Stanley has the team’s best +/- with a +11.

The Titans have scored 55 goals in 16 games (fourth best in the league) while they have allowed 42 (eighth in the league). New Jersey is seventeenth in the league on the power play having converted on 18.1% of their chances while they are sixteenth in the league on the penalty kill having prevented the opposition from scoring 75.7%.

Goaltenders Brandon Perrone (who historically has played well against the Rebels) and Matt Ladd have a combined 2.35 goals against average and a .926 save percentage with one shutout (Perrone).

Rebels Overview
The Rebels come into this series against the Titans in third place in the East Division with a 12 – 2 record for 24 point, four behind the Generals but the Rebels have nine games in hand (yes, the Rebels have played nine games less than the Generals). The Rebels are 3 – 2 during their past five games, and they are coming off of a 6 – 1 home victory over the Tomahawks back on October 30.

Andrew Bellant (5 goals and 6 assists) and defenseman Diarmad DiMurro (3 goals and 8 assists) lead the team with eleven points respectively. Aaron Maguyon had ten points (5 goals and 5 assists). Three players (Bellant, Maguyon and Auggie Moore) each have five goals. Jensen Zerban has scored the most game winning goals on the team with three. Bellant leads the team in penalty minutes with 42 while DiMurro has the best +/- with a +9.

The Rebels have scored 47 goals in fourteen games (tenth best in the league) while they have allowed only 24 (least amount in the league). The Rebels are second in the league on the power play have converted on 31.9% of the chances with the extra attacker while they are ranked third in the league on the penalty kill having prevented the opposition from scoring 88.9% of the time.

Goalies Ryan Keane and Eli Billing have a combined 1.75 goals against average and a .924 save percentage with one shutout (Keane).

Weekend Activities
It is Scout Night on Friday night. All scouts who attend the game in their uniform can purchase a ticket for $10 (as well as those who accompany them).  It will be Skate Night with the Rebels immediately following Sunday’s game. All fans are encouraged to bring their skates and get on the ice. Skates also will be rented for those who forgot to bring theirs.
