Weekend Preview: 3/22 & 3/23 – Rebels travel to Johnstown for final two-game road trip of the season

The Rebels will travel to Johnstown, PA this weekend for a two-game series against the Tomahawks at the War Memorial. Friday’s game begins at 7:30PM while Saturday’s starts at 7:00PM. This will be the last weekend road series for the Rebels (although they have two remaining away games against the New Jersey Titans but they are on Tuesdays).

This will be games three and four of the Rebels five game road swing. It also will be the last time these teams meet this year.

The Rebels have nine games remaining in the season, including the two this weekend. Five of the games are at home. They trail the Northeast Generals by three points for the sixth and final playoff spot although they have three games in hand on the Generals. Northeast has six games remaining, with their next three games being played this weekend and on March 26 against the New Hampshire Mountain Kings – next weekend’s opponent for the Rebels.

Klaus Jogi will be playing in his 100th NAHL game Friday night.

Tomahawks vs. Rebels Overview
The last time they played each other was back on February 9 and 10 at Hollydell when they split with Johnstown winning the first game 7 – 5 while the Rebels won the second game 4 – 2, the only win of the six games played between them so far for Philadelphia. The Tomahawks have outscored the Rebels by a combined score of 24 to 14.

In the prior six games, Johnstown has gone 2 for 16 (13%) on the man advantage. Zach Aben leads the Tomahawks in total points against the Rebels with six (1 goal and 5 assists). Will Lawrence has scored the most goals with four. Johnstown’s goaltenders have a combined 2.32 goals against average and .934 save percentage with one shutout against the Rebels.

The Rebels have gone 2 for 20 (10%) so far against Johnstown on the man advantage this season. Charles Panchisin (1 goal and 5 assists) and Billy Sheridan (2 goals and 3 assists) each have five points to lead the Rebels in scoring against the Tomahawks. Otto Polakovs, Jogi and Sheridan each have scored two goals against Johnstown. Rebels netminders have a combined 3.56 goals against average and .900 save percentage with no shutouts.

Tomahawks Overview
Johnstown is currently in fourth place in the East Division with a 32-19-1-2 record for 67 points. They have clinched a playoff spot.  They are coming off a 4 – 3 home win last night against the division leading Maryland Black Bears. Johnstown has won six of their last ten games.

The Tomahawks have scored 188 goals (9th in the league), and they have allowed 164 (18th in the league). They have converted on 20% of the chances on the man advantage (9th in the league), and their penalty kill is at .810% (17th in the league).

Aben has the most total points on the Tomahawks with 50 (20 goals and 30 assists) while Lawrence has a team high 21 goals. Lawrence also has the most game winning goals with seven.  Lukas Lemm and Lawrence each have a team +17. Isaac Holt leads the team in penalty minutes with 80.

Tomahawks’ goalies have a combined 2.84 goals against average and a .918 save percentage with four shutouts.

Rebels Overview
The Rebels are in seventh place in the East Division with a 22-26-0-3 record for 47 points. They are coming off of being swept a pair of games at Maryland last weekend. They have won seven of their past ten games, and they have recorded a point in nine of their past ten games.  

Philadelphia has scored 158 goals (18th in the league), and they have allowed 179 (23rd in the league). They have converted on 15.9% of the chances on the man advantage (25th in the league), and their penalty kill is at .824% (12th in the league).

Panchisin leads the team with 51 total points (21 goals and 30 assists) and goals (21). Paddy Fortune and Brock Jones each have two game winning goals. Panchisin also has a team best +18. Julian Brown has the most penalty minutes with 94.

Rebels netminders have a combined 3.28 goals against average and .908 save percentage with two shutouts.
