Home and Home with the Titans
This weekend the Rebels find themselves hunting to gain four points and tie the first place New Jersey Titans in the East Division. The Rebels fell short to the Titans last night in a 4-2 loss. The story in the loss was turnovers and costly penalties – something that the Rebels know they will have to fix this weekend if they want to find themselves holding first place heading into the playoffs.
Which Titans to Watch
Roberts Smits continues his outstanding play for the first place Titans this season, scoring 19 points in only 19 games played. Smits found the back of the net in last night’s bout and he is someone that the Rebels will have to play tighter against defensively if they wish to find success against the Titans this weekend. Anthony Cusanelli is another dangerous forward in the Titans top-6 who has continued to light the lamp all year. He scored his sixteenth goal of the year last night and will be looking to add to that total in the two games this weekend – something that the Rebels defensive core will be looking to prevent.
Keys to Victory
As mentioned in last night’s recap – the Rebels will have to play with more discipline against a skilled team like the Titans. Staying out of the box is necessary if the Rebels plan to gain ground towards their goal of first place. If the Rebels can remain disciplined and poised with the puck, then they will surely have better success then their Wednesday matinee against the Titans. The Rebels have been in this position before, and they know that they must overcome the adversity of a bad game and not get too down on themselves. There is a huge four points on the table, and the Rebels will be looking to lay everything out on the ice to gain the advantage in the standings with the playoffs around the corner.
