WEEKEND PREVIEW: 3/4 – 3/6

Mar 2, 2016

Rebels Have a 3 game Weekend then Play on Wednesday

This weekend the Rebels will take on Eastern Divisional opponents New Jersey Titans and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. A win against the Titans can help propel the Rebels back towards first place, a spot that the Titans currently sit in with 62 points. The Rebels can also get help in that department by defeating the Knights in the two games they have with them this weekend – the Knights are currently last in the Eastern Division. The last meeting the Rebels had with the Titans ended in a 2-1 Titans victory, and the last time the Rebels matched up with the Knights they defeated them handily by a score of 7-1.

The Latest with the Titans

The Titans have been hot as of late, winning 5 of their last 6 games. They have a really well rounded roster, with 7 different players having double-digits in the goal column. Raymond Brice and Roberts Smits will be the two players that the Rebels will have to keep an eye on when they take on the Titans this weekend. Brice leads the Titans with 17 goals this season, and Smits has been heating up lately – having scored 13 points in only 16 games played this season.

The Latest with the Knights

The Knights have not seemed to be able to put together consistent wins this season, and because of that, they currently find themselves at last place in the East. Last weekend they fell short to the first place Titans in back to back games. Braden Brown and Jacob Hamacher are the two that the Rebels should keep close to this weekend. Brown leads the team with 19 goals whereas Hamacher leads the team in points, with 43. It will be interesting to see if the Knights can finish strong heading into the playoffs – the Rebels certainly cannot afford to take them lightly, that’s for sure.

Rebels Makeup Game with the Titans

The Rebels and Titans will be playing on Wednesday, March 9 at 1:00pm at Middletown’s Ice World. It is a rescheduled game that was canceled due to the snowstorm back on January 23.
