Rebels need one more win to advance onto the divisional finals
Last week’s games between the Rebels and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights had the same outcome (Rebels winning) and score (3 – 2). However, both games were vastly different. While the Rebels controlled the first game the team had to come back in game two and score three goals in 2:19 minutes. Games three and four will be played at the Revolution Centre in Pittston, PA. The Rebels need one more win to move onto the divisional finals. Game five would be played on Monday, April 25 should the Knights sweep the Rebels on Friday and Saturday.
Rebels Overview
Last weekend the Rebels were led by Michael Merulla (three goals) and Ryan Cusin (four points including a goal). The team also received goals from Kristofers Bindulis and Eric Carreras. The Rebels had nine different players assist on at least one goal. While Cusin had three assists, defenseman Brennan Kapcheck had two. The team’s downfall has been its power play. It has gone 0 for 9 during the first two games. Goaltender Darion Hanson has played well in both games. He has recorded a 2.00 goals against average and posted a .911 save percentage.
Knights Overview
The Knights had a balanced attack last weekend with three players having two points (Blake Busch (goal and assist), Jacob Hamacher (two assists) and Carson Knop (goal and assist)). Like the Rebels, the Knights have gone 0 for the power play during the series (0 for 9). Both Knights’ goaltenders played well with Grant Valentine posting a 2.00 goals against average and .90 save percentage while Andrey Svistunov, who stood on his head in Saturday night’s game, has posted a 2.00 goals against average and .909 save percentage. The Knights had won five of eight games against the Rebels at home during the regular season.
Game Five – If Necessary
Game five, if necessary, would be played on Monday, April 25 at 7pm at IceWorks. If the Rebels win this series, the team will begin its divisional final series against the winner of the Johnstown Tomahawks and New Jersey Titans series (Johnstown currently leading 2 – 0) on Friday, April 29. Game two would be played on Saturday, April 30. Both games would start at 7pm and played at IceWorks.
